Toby Williams is a comedy writer/performer, actor and voice actor living in London. He regularly performs stand-up in the top clubs around London and the UK, recently opening for Jerry Sadowitz.
‘George Ryegold’s God-In-A-Bag’, his show at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, was in the Scotsman’s ’Top Five Comedy Shows at the Fringe’ and he also appeared in Dave’s ‘Top 10 Funniest Jokes of the Fringe’
He won ‘Best Show’ at The Leicester Comedy Festival 2011 with ‘The Ordeal of Dr Ryegold’ which also had sell-out shows and was a Scotsman ‘Hot Pick’ in Edinburgh 2010.
At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 Toby co-wrote and starred in the sell-out show ‘The Fudge Shop’, winning a Three Weeks Editors’ Award.
Toby’s debut Edinburgh 2009 show ‘Trample The Weak, Hurdle The Dead’ was nominated for The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.
He has appeared in numerous short films, including ‘Island Queen’ which recently won Best Comedy at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris and ‘Step Right Up’, winner of the CLAP D’OR at Clap 89 International Short Film Festival in France and winner of Best Masterclass Film at Young Cuts Film Festival. He has also appeared in E4′s ‘Celebrity Bedlam’, ’Colin Hoult’s Real Horror Show’, various pieces for The Comedians’ Theatre Company and played several improvisational roles in Mark Watson’s ‘The Hotel’ at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Toby has been a voice actor for over ten years voicing the character of Rumple The Rhino in CBeebies’ Iconicles as well as promos for BBC1, Eden, Universal, Watch, Dave and talkSPORT.
Toby has written for Radio 4′s ‘The Headset Set’ and as Dr George Ryegold for Erotic Review Magazine and Channel 4′s ‘This Just In’ topical website and his short film script was recently awarded a grant from Film London as a winner of the London Borough Film Fund Challenge.
